Merdeka Market Day: Celebrating Freedom, Together as One
Upward Learning Centre came alive with colour, laughter, and festive Malaysian spirit during our Merdeka Market Day, held on 13 August 2026. With the theme “Celebrate Freedom, Together as One,” the event brought our school community together to celebrate Malaysia’s independence through food, creativity, and meaningful shared experiences.
Students had the opportunity to explore a variety of Malaysian-inspired treats and activities, including nasi lemak, fried rice, roti bakar, teh tarik, lemonade, ice cream, and cupcakes. They also enjoyed browsing fun Merdeka-themed stickers and keychains, adding a creative touch to the celebration.
More than just a market, the event encouraged our students to practise valuable skills such as communication, teamwork, responsibility, and confidence as they participated in the day’s activities. The vibrant decorations, Jalur Gemilang, traditional elements, and festive atmosphere created a wonderful sense of national pride throughout the school.
Merdeka Market Day was a joyful reminder that our differences make our community stronger. Through coming together, sharing experiences, and celebrating our Malaysian identity, our students experienced the true spirit of unity, freedom, and togetherness.
It was certainly a memorable celebration filled with smiles, learning, and the spirit of Merdeka!
